Hosta 'Autumn Frost' is a Proven Winners selection with exceptional colour and growth habit. In the spring it has a wide buttery yellow margin that fades to pure white during the summer months. Autumn Frost is a tetraploid meaning that it has twice the chromosomes of traditional diploid Hosta varieties. Tetraploid hostas generally exhibit more vigour, stronger colours and good leaf substance. 'Autumn Frost' is a sport of 'First Frost,' which was the 2010 Hosta of the Year. The parent of First Frost is 'Halcyon,' still considered to be one of the best blue-leaved Hostas around. This parentage has resulted in a hosta with real "Wow". It will grow best in part to full shade to keep the lovely steely blue colour of the center of the leaf
