Ninebark

Physocarpus 'Ginger Wine' really stands out in the garden with rich hues of orange red in the spring and bright burgundy in summer. Large white flower in late spring transform into bright red seed-heads for added interest. Sturdy stems and a compact upright growth habit make this an excellent choice for the mixed or shrub border. 'Ginger Wine' has shown excellent resistance to mildew.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

All Ninebarks are easy care shrubs, thriving in most soils in full sun to light shade. The colour of the foliage will be best in full sun. Because it blooms on old wood, when it is a young plant prune the tips after flowering to shape it. Once it is established prune one quarter of the branches to the ground in late winter to rejuvenate it.
