Vigorous, and beautiful, Fothergilla x intermedia 'Mount Airy' is a compact, dense, deciduous shrub that is admired for its profuse spring flowering, attractive summer foliage, and amazing fall colour. Bottlebrush-like spikes of fragrant, white flowers bloom in spring after the foliage emerges. The flowers have a honey-scented fragrance and are attractive to pollinators. The leaves are leathery, dark green above and bluish gray beneath. The foliage turns glowing shades of yellow, orange and red-purple in fall. ‘Mount Airy’ has thrived in our garden for 10 years.
