We have trialed Diervilla 'Kodiak Orange' in our test gardens for several years and we are impressed. This durable native plant will grow in partial shade and has the most incredible fall colour. The glowing orange foliage really lights up the fall landscape. The new spring growth is orange and summer foliage is an attractive green. The bright yellow flowers, which are produced over a long period in the summer, are attractive to pollinators. Diervilla is an easy shrub to grow and will tolerate dry shade although the best growth and colour will occur with at least a half day sun.

Diervilla is adaptable to most soils, including dry sites. It blooms on new wood making maintenance very easy. It can be pruned to shape in the spring without fear of damaging summer bloom. It is not invasive like some varieities of honeysuckle.
