Yucca 'Color Guard’ is a gold-centered variegated form of Yucca. It features leaves with green margins and striking creamy gold centers. Long filamentous curly white threads are found along the leaf margins. It is commonly called Adam’s needle or Spanish Bayonet. It is actually considered to be a stemless broadleaf evergreen shrub although it looks more like a perennial than a shrub. It is native to beaches and sand dunes in the southern United States but seems to be hardy where it has been planted farther north. Note that it is toxic to dogs and cats.
