'Lemon Supreme' is a compact form that stands at about half the height of the species. It forms a tidy compact clump of attractively lobed, dark green, toothed leaves. Plump, rounded, yellow buds open to bright lemon yellow, bowl-shaped blossoms. This is a spring blooming species that often reblooms in the fall. Trollius is a wonderful addition to any sunny or partially shaded, moist area such as the edges of ponds or streams.
Trollius grows best in full sun to partial shade and rich moist, even boggy soil. This moisture is especially important in sunny locations. If the foliage begins to look worn after flowering, cut it back hard and wait for the new growth to fill back in. Trollius typically takes a year or two to become established, but they are well worth the wait. If, at that time, you wish to divide them, do so in either early spring or fall. Plants may take a year to recover from this division.
