This is a star performer as a background plant in a big border or it can be used to screen a neighbour you don't like. It forms a tall, bushy clump with huge spikes of fluffy white flowers that remain attractive for a long time. It seems to be quite shade tolerant as well.
Persicaria is a big plant so it needs moisture and good soil to reach its potential. It is growing in our garden in some shade and is very vigourous. It may require some staking as the clump matures because flowering is profuse and the flower heads can become very heavy if there is a lot of rainfall. Cut it down in the fall as soon as the frost hits the foliage.
