Bee-Balm, Bergamot

SUGAR BUZZ™ Monardas are perfectly suited to the middle of the flower border. All are similar in size, bloom time, and vigour. In midsummer, 'Cherry Pops' forms a solid dome of cherry red, 5 cm flowers on strong, well-branched stems. The dark green foliage forms an upright clump that will fill in nicely but won't run all over the garden. 'Cherry Pops' displays above average resistance to powdery mildew. The flowers' sweet nectar attracts scores of hummingbirds, butterflies and bees to the garden. The aromatic foliage smells like mint when crushed.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Monarda enjoys rich moist soil, however it is adaptable to average soil. Sun is best but light shade is tolerated. Dead head spent flowers to prolong bloom. This cultivar has good mildew resistance but ensure that air circulation is good and the soil does not dry out. Regular division is necessary to keep the plants healthy.
