'Snowbells' has semi-double, pure white flowers, with five petals and additional petaloids at the center. Unlike hybrid types, these flowers are naturally side-facing versus downward-facing, so you can enjoy the bright white flowers with little effort. Because this is a H. niger, the bloom season will be much earlier than the hybrid varieties that we carry. Hellebores are the harbingers of spring, blooming for six weeks or more beginning in late winter. This is the perfect plant for naturalizing in moist, woodland areas where its extensive root system will spread as far as it is allowed.
Despite their reputation of being hard to grow, Hellebores are not fussy plants. Give them rich, moist organic soil and shade from hot afternoon sun during the summer. They can even tolerate short periods of drought. Hellebores are evergreen so, after the plants are actively growing, trim back any foliage that has been damaged in the winter. Hellebores are poisonous so do not consume any part of the plant.
