Bishop's Cap, Barrenwort

Epimedium rubrum is one of the biggest and most vigourous of the Epimediums we grow. It has red tinted leaves and crimson and white flowers. It is a fast grower making an excellent groundcover. It is dry shade tolerant.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Epimediums are easy to grow in good, well drained soil in part to full shade. They will flower better in part shade. They prefer soil with plenty of organic matter and even moisture. Once established Epimediums will tolerate more dryness. They will also tolerate competition from tree roots and are an excellent choice for dry shade. The plants are semi-evergreen to evergreen. In the spring cut the foliage to the ground if it has been damaged during the winter.
