Astrantia 'Burgundy Manor' is a beautiful woodland plant that produces masses of burgundy flowers with spiky centers like a pincushion. It has a very long bloom time beginning in early summer. It isan excellent source of nectar for pollinators
Astrantia is a wonderful choice for a partially shaded perennial border that stays evenly moist. In our garden it dislikes hot sun but thrives with morning or late afternoon sun in soil that has been amended with compost. During periods of drought this plant must receive additional watering because it will really decline or die if it is allowed to dry out.
