New England Aster

Aster 'Purple Dome' is a reliable perennial classic that features a mass of dark purple flowers which can entirely cover the plant with bloom from mid-August until early October. No staking is required on this sturdy plant. Because of its late bloom it is an essential garden addition for late feeding pollinators.

Growing and Maintenance Tips

Asters are easy to grow in rich, moist soil in full sun. They have  a broad tolerance of soil types and moisture levels. 'Purple Dome' can be pinched back in June to make the habit denser and encourage flower production. It is mildew resistant and rarely requires staking.
