The new "Crush" series of asters brings refinement to fall blooming Asters. 'Grape Crush' produces a large, very round mound with densely packed flowers. Very rich, dark purple flowers are produced above dark green foliage in early fall to midfall. A perfect finale to the growing season!
Asters are native to North America and are generally very easy to grow.
- Height: 66-76 cm (26-30 in)
- Spread: 102-112 cm (40-44 in)
- Cold Hardiness: Zone 3-8
- Sun or Shade: minimum 6 hours of direct sun
- Bloom Time: early fall
- Leaf Colour: green
- Bloom Colour: dark purple
- Critter Resistance: some resistance to deer
- Nature Attraction: bees and butterflies
Growing and Maintenance Tips
Asters grow best in rich, evenly moist soil. Division every two to three years in the spring will keep the clumps robust. Location in a sunny site with good circulation is recommended.
Bloomfest Garden Art Show
Mark your calendar for July 20-28. We will be open every day during that time. Our Bloomfest Garden Show is happening and our daylily field will be in full bloom. This year we will be displaying the work of 23 artists throughout the gardens and daylily field. It is easy to visualize how a piece of art might look in your own garden when you see it in displayed in a garden here.
