Amsonia hubrichtii was the Perennial Plant Association Perennial Plant of the Year for 2011. This native plant has narrow needle- like leaves that line the stems like bottlebrushes. The flowers are clusters of small, light blue star-shaped flowers. Amsonia hubrichtii is valued for its finely dissected foliage that turns golden yellow in the fall. It makes a beautiful back drop to fall blooming perennials like Sedum and Asters.

Growing and Maintenance Tips
Amsonia is one of the most forgiving and easy care perennials you can grow. Plant it in full sun to light shade in average well drained soil. Give it too much shade or soil that is overly rich and it can become floppy. Cut the stems back a little after flowering to keep the plant bushy and neat.
