Picea abies 'Elegans' has densely arranged, slightly ascending branches of dark green. It becomes a flat-topped, dwarf nest spruce that will add classy elegance to any garden. This conifer breaks bud and develops bright green, new growth earlier in spring than other nest types. Use the irregularly rounded, slow-growing, spreading plant as a low garden accent.
'Elegans' is easily grown in average, acidic, evenly moist, well-drained soils in at least 4 hours of full sun. It also performs well in rich sandy soils. Established plants have some tolerance for dryish soils. Water regularly, but do not over-water.
